Borrowing and returns
Find an item in the catalogue, then visit your campus library to borrow it with your Daystar identity card.
Check an item’s location and availability before you travel.
How borrowing works
-
Find it in the catalogue
Search the library catalogue by title, author or subject, and note the item’s campus and call number.
-
Visit the library
Bring your Daystar University identity card. You need it to enter the library and to borrow any item.
-
Borrow at the circulation desk
The circulation team issues the item to your library account and tells you its due date.
-
Renew or return on time
Renew from your catalogue account, or return the item to the library by its due date.
How many items, and for how long
Loan limits depend on your programme.
| Programme | Items at a time | Loan period |
|---|---|---|
| Certificate | 5 | 14 days |
| Diploma | 9 | 14 days |
| Undergraduate | 9 | 14 days |
| Postgraduate diploma | 9 | 14 days |
| Master’s | 11 | 14 days |
| PhD | 11 | One month |
Renew, reserve and suggest
Sign in to My Account in the catalogue to renew selected items or all of them, place a hold when every copy is on loan, check your fines and suggest a title for purchase.
Text Book Loan programme
The Text Book Loan programme provides core texts for your courses: more than 2,000 titles and 30,000 copies. You can borrow one text for each course per semester.
Inter-library loans
Need a book held at the other Daystar campus? Ask the reference staff to request it. For items from other institutions, contact the Reader Services Librarian.
Late, lost or damaged items
- Items not returned on time incur a daily charge, set by the library from time to time.
- Lost or damaged items are charged for replacement at the current market price, plus an administrative cost.
- Check your current charges under My Account in the catalogue.
Leaving the university
Use Ask for Discharge in your catalogue account to be cleared by the library. Once you apply, you can no longer borrow library materials.
