Referencing and citation
Make your sources clear and give other researchers a path to the evidence.
Use your course’s style
Confirm the referencing style with your lecturer or department, and keep full details of every source as you research: author, date, title, publisher or journal, and page numbers or links.
Avoid plagiarism
Presenting material copied from books, papers, newspapers or the internet without acknowledging the source is plagiarism. Quote and paraphrase carefully, and cite every source you use.
Check before you submit
- Database citation tools are a useful start. Check names, dates, titles and formatting against your required style.
- Reference managers such as Zotero can store your sources and format citations.
- Use the library’s similarity index check to review your work.
